Budget Airlines Hand Luggage sizes
Easyjet: They are very generous with their cabin baggage allowance. In fact, so long as your carry on bags are no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm then no weight limit applies. It therefore makes sense to pack heavy items into your hand luggage when flying with Easyjet. Ryanair: As you can imagine, hand luggage rules and regulations from Ryaniar are far more strict with reduced size limits and a measly 10kg weight limit. Maximum dimensions for your one piece of carry on baggage are 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Jet 2: Although Jet 2 allow the larger dimensions for hand luggage (56 x 45 x 25cm), they again impose the lower weight limit of only 10kg. Monarch: Now if you thought Ryanair and Jet 2 weight limits were strict, just look at Monarch's policy for carry on luggage. They try to be flexible by offering two options but a weight limit of 5kg!! Come on Monarch, does it really have to be this low? Their option one = 56 x 40 x 25cm with a max weight of 5kg. Their option 2 allows two pieces of seperate hand luggage but overall the size and weight must not exceed that stated in option 1, above. Aer Lingus: Operate a similar policy to Monrach, stating that all carry-on hand luggage must be within the size dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 24cm. Please remember that on some of their regional flights the cabin bag allowance will be less. Aer Lingus weight limit is 10kg although they do allow some flexibility with duty free purchases and handbags etc.
Although all the dimensions of the hand luggage and restrictions are listed here, the enforcement of these restrictions and regulations varies greatly with each airline and country. Always weigh and measure hand luggage and baggage prior to travel to check weight and dimensions are within the guidelines. |
